This year was an eventful one for Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism, as the department announced a new facility that will enable the city to host even more events and tournaments and was the first parks department in the state to receive a national accreditation.

This summer’s wastewater spill at River Valley Ingredients’ plant near Hanceville dumped hundreds of thousands of gallons of wastewater into the Mulberry Fork of the Black Warrior River and killed at least 175,000 fish along 50 miles of the river.
