Fairview football coach George Redding reacts on the sideline during a game last season.

Football season is right around the corner — yes, you read that correctly.

Spring practices wrapped up earlier this month, and the nine local teams in The Times’ coverage area will try to build on their momentum as they prepare for upcoming summer workouts ahead of the 2019 campaign, which is scheduled to begin Aug. 22.

Let’s take a closer look at how the spring went for Cullman, Fairview and West Point.

And don’t forget to look for The Times’ 2019 Football Preview Magazine later this year.

% 2018 Record: 3-7 (1-4 in Class 6A, Region 7)

% Key Losses: Seth Gable, Peyton Colvard, Dylon Wallace, Jordan Ray, Ezra Burks, Carter Borden, Canaan Lipsey

% Key Returners: Jayden Sullins, Max Dueland, Josh Miranda, Griffin Barksdale, Dustin Speake, Carter Lindsey, Cole Herfurth

% Jamboree: Benjamin Russell

% Coach Speak: "A lot of the really good things about Cullman are still intact. It's a winning culture here. It's good to come into a program where the kids are used to hard work and used to being competitive and used to being tough. To be able to tap into those things, it's great." — Oscar Glasscock

"I thought we made tremendous progress in the weight room. We're lifting faster and better. The next step is for that attitude and urgency to carry over to the practice field. We've got a long way to go with our pace and speed and efficiency, but we're obviously just getting started." — Oscar Glasscock

"We were a little groggy in the beginning of the (spring) game, but we got better as the game went on. I think we have a chance to be competitive defensively. Offensively, it's a whole different style, and it's going to take some time evaluating personnel and seeing how the pieces fit." — Oscar Glasscock
