Athlete of the Week — August 28

Hanceville's Bo Joles.

Bo Joles came up big for Hanceville last Friday night.

And the Bulldogs are certainly grateful he did.

The junior quarterback completed 17 of 32 passes for 197 yards and a pair of touchdowns, totaled 47 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and recorded the game-winning score from 10 yards out in a 32-26 overtime victory against Sumiton Christian.

The touchdown strikes were delivered to Zach Campbell (44 yards) and Brodie Malcom (54 yards), and his other rushing score came on a 1-yard sneak.

Not a bad way to open the season.

And because of that — Joles is The Times' Athlete of the Week.

Campbell hauled in four passes for 84 yards and a touchdown and also added two interceptions on defense.

Athlete of the Week, which is sponsored by Tony Serra Nissan, is open to all local athletes.

Nominations can be sent to jwinfrey@cullmantimes.com with the person’s name, school and statistics.
