Addison Bulldogs

Addison’s Ty Tuggle gets a carry during a practice this week.

ADDISON — The past three seasons have been awfully good for the Bulldogs.

Since 2016, Addison has compiled a 33-7 record, including a 16-2 mark in region play.

Coach David Smothers' program also nabbed two region titles, reached the quarterfinals twice and advanced to the semifinals once during that terrific three-year stretch.

The Bulldogs will no doubt try to continue their impressive run in 2019.

To do so, they'll need to replace All-State performers Zayne Guthrie (QB) and Hayden Ray (OL).

Addison's roster, however, is loaded with returning talent.

% Coach Speak: "We're excited about the season. We've got good numbers out, the kids have worked hard, we're in good shape. We've got a lot of experience back, so the knowledge of everything we normally try to do the first few weeks has drastically changed. Most of these kids are ready to go into Week 7 or 8 on the mental side of it, especially defensively. We're leaps and bounds ahead in that category." — David Smothers

"Our biggest thing is going to be keeping the excitement up for the next two weeks while we don't have a game. Once football season starts, it gets more fun. These kids love competing. We've got to get to that point staying humble. It doesn't really matter what they say you are at the beginning of the year, it's at the end of the year where you wind up. So we've got to make sure we stay humble." — David Smothers

% Player Speak: "I’m really excited. We’ve been working for this moment ever since we’ve been little. I’m just so ready for it. I’ve been ready for it since last season ended. I hope we can play 15 games." — Luke Waldrep

"It’s amazing. This is my last season to play high school football. I’m definitely ready to be with my teammates and play football." — Caleb Crider
