PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP

Vinemont's boys defeated St. Bernard 54-51 on Monday night to earn their first win of the season.

Katch Johnson (18), Will Rhodes (13) and Collin Teichmiller (11) had the top offensive contributions for coach Preston Boyd's squad, which went 7 of 10 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to keep the home team at bay.

Teichmiller, Johnson, Jordan Hall and Colby Miller each hit clutch shots from the charity stripe down the stretch.

"We had a tough week to start the season, but I'm so happy for our guys," Boyd said. "We're taking it one day at a time and working to improve on the little things. We faced some adversity tonight and rallied together. We had several guys step up to play important roles in helping the team get the win."
