Downtown Cullman just enjoyed the largest 2nd Fridays event in its history, with thousands of people lining the entertainment district last week for shopping, music, rides, classic cars and much more.

The event is reaching greater levels, not only because of planning, but the cooperation of Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism, the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce and Cullman Downtown Merchants Association.

The merchants association began last year occupying the entertainment district area south of U.S. 278, providing more entertainment and shopping opportunities for residents and visitors. The addition of their energy is a complimentary addition to what was already established.

For those who venture downtown for the monthly event, the returns have been good. Reviews from the crowds who enjoy the outing have been positive and an inspiration for the organizers of 2nd Fridays to continue to explore and implement new ideas.

No doubt, 2nd Fridays has grown into a much-anticipated community happening that showcases so much of the appeal of Cullman — down home fun, interesting shops, good food, entertainment for all ages, and a friendly environment for families.

We hope this event will continue to evolve and provide great opportunities to showcase the charm and desirability of the energized downtown business district.
