Rain may have muted the annual tractor show at Wallace State and kept the outdoor crowds home for Dodge City Day, but with a roof overhead for Saturday night’s free concert at the Hanceville Civic Center, the people turned out for a rare local chance to see Three on a String up close.

Opened by Jesse Priest and highlighted by Three on a String’s blend of deep folk roots, homespun humor, and country/bluegrass chops, the first-ever event in Hanceville’s new Summer Concert Series was a success by any measure — even more so considering the show had to be moved indoors from its planned outside setting at the city’s Veterans Park.

Browse our photos from Three on a String’s performance, as well as Dodge City Day’s evening with the Battle Ground trio — and mark your calendar for July 20, when Natchez Trace arrives for the next concert in Hanceville’s summer series.
