Brooksie, a super well-trained Goldendoodle, got his first look at his new workplace Tuesday as Cullman Circuit Judge Greg Nicholas toured the courthouse where Brooksie will serve as a full-time facility dog.

The idea behind adding Brooksie to the county’s employee roster is to provide a reassuring animal presence when sensitive court cases — such as those involving child witnesses — arise. A graduate of the intensive training program at Service Dogs Alabama, Brooksie will live with the Nicholas family and put in a regular 40-hour work week — just like his human.
