Cullman’s lineup of major retail outlets is adding another member with the arrival of Harbor Freight Tools in January.
With 700 stores nationwide, the company will locate in the old Fred’s building near The Foundry along U.S. 31 South and hire 35-40 employees. The store plans a soft opening on Jan. 31, followed by a grand opening event on Feb. 15, according to a spokesman for the company.
“We’re thrilled to be opening our 18th Harbor Freight Tools store in Alabama and very pleased by the warm welcome we’ve received in Cullman” said Eric Smidt, president of Harbor Freight Tools. “At Harbor Freight, we’re all about delivering high quality tools at ridiculously low prices. We do it by manufacturing our tools at the same factories as the expensive brands, but we cut out the middle man and pass the savings on to our customers. We’ve also invested millions of dollars to build and operate our own state-of-the-art quality test labs to ensure that we’re constantly driving quality at the lowest possible price.”
Founded in North Hollywood, California, in 1977 and now based in Calabasas, Harbor Freight Tools is a leading discount tool retailer in the U.S. selling high quality tools at low prices. The stores sell automotive, air and power tools, shop equipment and hand tools.
The company reports it has more than 30 million customers nationwide.
