Building construction class

Students in a building construction class at Wallace State Community College.

Go Build Alabama has launched a new scholarship titled, Go Build’s Career Kickstart Scholarship. It will provide up to $10,000 in first-year tuition for two qualified candidates who plan on attending an Alabama community college in the fall and are studying a skilled trade.

To be considered, students who are already enrolled in an Alabama community college for the upcoming 2019 fall semester can apply online at https://a.pgtb.me/0scNMZ by submitting a 250-word response on why they believe they belong in a skilled trade.

Go Build Alabama actively promotes skilled trades by showing young people that a four-year degree, and tens of thousands of dollars in student loan debt, isn’t required to earn a decent living in the construction industry. The Alabama Community College System offers so many training classes for dozens of skilled trades, and a two-year degree is an excellent way to learn before you earn.

Applications are due Wednesday, July 17.
