A good haul

Shoppers file out of Belk department store at the Cullman Shopping Center on Thanksgiving 2016, getting a jump on Christmas shopping with deep discounts.

It doesn’t take much for people to line up for a good sale, especially at the approach of the holiday shopping season. But adding in a good cause, while making the deals exclusive to those paid to have the good stuff all to themselves — it’s almost addictive.

Cullman’s Belk store will host just such an event Saturday, opening its doors for the Fall Charity Sale to benefit local nonprofit organizations. For one day only, shoppers can save on rarely-discounted brands by buying a ticket to the private sale, which also offers a chance at Belk gift cards for the first 100 customers.

The timed sale begins at 6 a.m. Saturday and ends at 10 a.m. That short window means that timing is everything — but for the $5 price of the ticket, it’s worth getting up a little early.

To access the private shopping event, customers must purchase a ticket, whose price will be deducted from their total purchase when they return to shop this Saturday. Tickets can be obtained from partnering charities, with 100 percent of the proceeds remaining with that organization. Tickets also are available directly from Belk, with those proceeds divided among all of the store’s partnering charities.

All of the stores in Belk’s 16-state footprint are participating in the Fall Charity Sale, with proceeds staying in each local community. Belk’s Cullman charity partners are below, as well as information on how to contact each one to obtain a ticket:
