An investigation into stolen farm equipment has led to an Addison man’s arrest.
Justin Roy Bates, 34, is facing charges for receiving stolen property in both Cullman and Winston counties.
According to a news release from the Cullman County Sheriff’s office, a tip led investigators to Bates residence in Winston County.
With the assistance of the Winston County Sheriff’s Office and the Addison Police Department, multiple items were recovered.
Investigators also recovered a stolen tractor, skid loader, bush hog and other stolen farm equipment hidden deep in a wooded area at a separate residence in the Sardis community.
More charges could follow as the investigation continues.
Bates is currently being held in the Cullman County Detention Center with no bond.
“Working closely with the Winston County Sheriff’s Office and Addison Police Department, we are glad to be arresting the thieves in that area who want to steal from our hard working citizens in both Cullman and Winston County. I am also proud to report that we have returned most of the stolen farm equipment to the rightful owners and the suspect is now sitting in jail where he belongs,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry.
“I would also like to thank all the investigators from our office, Winston County Sheriff’s Office and Addison Police Department for continuing to push to arrest those criminals in our community.”
