Two teenagers injured in a single vehicle accident last week in Vinemont remain in critical condition.
Hannah Lee, 17, of Falkville, and Trevor Ponder, 18, of Cullman, both remain in the surgical Intensive Care Unit at Huntsville Hospital, where they were transported after the Jan. 22 wreck.
When reached at the hospital on Monday, Lee’s step-father Erik Mortensen said the young girl is still recovering from major head trauma.
“The doctors said she could be in ICU for up to a month,” he said. “Her brain has stopped swelling, but it hasn’t gone down. She’s still hooked up to a respirator.”
A member of Ponder’s family was unreachable by press time, though Mortensen said the young man has been responsive.
“He is awake and talking,” he said.
