Today is the last day to make contributions to the food drive for The Cullman Caring for Kids Food Bank.
The Cullman Times asks that individuals feel the giving spirit of the upcoming holiday season and donate to the food bank. During business hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., please bring canned goods, boxed meals, or cash donations to The Times at 300 Fourth Avenue S.E.
The Times set a goal of 30,000 pounds of food for the drive this year and is coming close to reaching the goal. About 20,000 pounds of food has been collected by The Times in addition to food that will be brought in by local businesses today.
Due to the current state of economic affairs, local food banks have been heavily relied upon by area residents. According to officials, food banks in the area are currently going through four to six tons of food every month.
If collecting canned goods seems like a hassle, making a donation of just $1 to the food bank allows for the purchase of seven pounds of food.
