Homegoing celebrations for Rev. Hershel Dearl Freeman, 73, of Bremen will be graveside at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Arab in Blount County.

Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper is in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Freeman was carried to his new home by our Lord and Savior at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, surrounded by his loving family as the angels watched over, guarded and comforted until it was time for our loving husband, daddy, grandfather, great-grandfather saw the face of Jesus, who extended His loving arms and said, “My child, you have fought the fight, kept the faith, run the race, spread the Gospel for 43 years, it is time for you to come home,” and in the still of the night he was gone.

Hershel was preceded in death by his father, Saint John “Blind Bud” Freeman; his mother, Dora Ethel Bowling Freeman; four brothers, Lemon Freeman, Rev. Ottie “Buck” Freeman, Rev. S.J. Freeman and Marvin Freeman; and two sisters, Desser Freeman and Beatrice Freeman Adams.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Evelyn Latham Freeman of Bremen; a daughter, Debra Freeman (Doug) Moore of Corner; a son, Dennis D. Freeman of Bremen; a grandson, Jeremy Moore of Arkadelphia; a granddaughter, Jaidia H. Freeman of Jasper; three great-grandchildren, Brittney Moore, Damien Moore and Steven Moore, all of Corner; a brother, Frank Freeman; and three sisters, Opal Freeman (Herbert) Parker, Marcello Freeman Reno and Millodean Freeman (Frank) Martin.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
