Funeral services for Rev. Cleo Bentley, 92 of Cullman, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at Center Grove Church, the Rev. Sherman Bailey officiating, with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Bentley will lie-in-state at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Moss-Service Funeral Home of Cullman is in charge of arrangements.

Rev. Bentley passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 21, 1915, in Morgan County to Homer and Eunie Scott Bentley. Cleo was called to preach in 1947, and has served many churches over the years. He has pastored at Center Point, Enon, Oaklevel, Fairview, Lystra, Pleasant Grove, Welcome, Salem, Corinth, Simcoe and Etha. Cleo loved life, loved his family and had a wonderful sense of humor, and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ottie Sims Bentley; a son, Joel Ray Bentley; a grandson, Robert Keith McCormick; two brothers, Clifton Bentley and Argin Bentley; and five sisters, Edith Wingard, Elouise Bentley, Willa Dean Copeland, Addaree Lovvorn and Fannie Jane Taylor.

Survivors include three daughters, Eloise Bentley (Bobby) McCormick and Dura Bentley (Bobby) Meherg, both of Cullman, and Dorothy Bentley (Callen) Alred of Birmingham; two sons, Leon (Sandra) Bentley of Cullman and Neal (Melanie) Bentley of Holly Pond; a sister, Jean Nobinger of Cullman; a brother, Elvert Bentley of Cullman; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the cafeteria ladies from C.R.M.C., Woodland Haus Assisted Living, and Morning Side Assisted Living for all they have done.
