Funeral services for Calvin Woodford Sears, 83, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Jimmy Baker and Hughlin Murphree officiating, with interment in Antioch Baptist Cemetery.

Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sears passed away on Monday, Feb. 4, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 8, 1925, to Lewis Franklin and Evia Pointer Sears. Mr. Sears retired from the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved fishing and deer hunting.

Mr. Sears was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Curtis Sears; and a sister, Ruby Miller.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Geleen Pitzing Sears; a son, Greg (June) Sears; two daughters, Gloria (Dickey) Miller and Gail (Wayne) Harris; three brothers, Ellis (Freda) Sears, Monroe (Julie) Sears and Rayburn (Debbie) Sears; two sisters, Mary Nell Chumbley and Lila Hanson; five grandchildren, Bethany (Matt) Goodwin, Bradley Harris, Kevin Miller, Matthew Sears and Melissa Sears; and a great-grandchild, Lexi Goodwin.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
