Miss Laura Marie Henderson and Mr. Timothy James Bower were united in holy matrimony on April 13, 2013, at 6 p.m. The outdoor ceremony was held at The Reserve at Oak Bowery, LaFayette, Ala.
The bride is the daughter of Ms. Susan Mitchell Henderson of Cullman and the late Jerry L. Henderson. She is the granddaughter of Ms. Dorothy W. Mitchell of Opelika, Ala., and the late Ralph T. Mitchell, and the late Clifton L. and Louise R. Henderson of Dadeville, Ala.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bower of Fairhope, Ala. He is the grandson of Ms. Dorothy VanLandingham of Salem, Ill., and the late John VanLandingham, and the late Ray and Evelyn Bower of Beecher City, Ill.
Reverend Mac Buttram of Cullman performed the double ring ceremony. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her brother, John T. Henderson.
Laura chose a designer gown from the Legends collection by Romona Keveza. The dress was an allover lace, cap sleeve, sweetheart neckline ballgown. The ivory gown was made of re-embroidered Alencon lace with a “V” neckline in the back which fell into a chapel-length train. The bride wore an embroidered belt of Swarovski crystals to accessorize her gown. She wore her mother's chapel-length mantilla of imported silk illusion, trimmed with seeded pearls and re-embroidered lace. Her jewelry consisted of two pearl necklaces, one was a gift from her mother, and one was borrowed from her grandmother. She finished her ensemble with a single strand pearl bracelet, a wedding gift from the groom. Her bouquet consisted of a mixture of peonies, roses, tulips and hydrangeas, in shades of white to pastel pink.
The maid of honor was Miss Leah Scarbrough, cousin of the bride, of Auburn, Ala. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Stacia Henderson, sister-in-law of the bride, of Cullman and Miss Kristen Hearn, friend of the bride, of Trussville, Ala.
Best man as Mr. W.C. Carter, friend of the groom, of Huntsville. The groomsmen were Mr. Jeremy McCormick of DeArmanville, Ala., and Mr. Zack Roberts of Auburn, friends of the groom.
Miss Anna-Catherine Henderson was the flower girl, and Master Trent Henderson was the ring bearer. They are the niece and nephew of the bride.
After the ceremony, guests were treated to dinner and dancing that lasted into the night.
The couple honeymooned in St. Lucia, West Indies. They are now at home in Auburn.
The wedding was directed by Julie Bunkley of Invision Events, Auburn. Flowers were provided by Stanley Sistrunk of The Flower Store, Auburn. Church pews were from P.E.W.S. of Hoover. Food and cakes were catered by Billy Lee of Terra Cotta Cafe, Auburn. Music was provided by Chris George of Disco Kris Co., Auburn.
Following the rehearsal on Friday evening, the groom's parents entertained the couple and wedding party with dinner at Niffer's on the Tracks, Opelika.
A bridal shower was given Feb. 24, 2013, at the home of Ms. Dorothy Mitchell in Opelika. It was hosted by Dot Mitchell, Joanne Scarbrough, Ann Mitchell and Julia McCreight.
