SLOCOMB, Ala. —
An Alabama teenager is facing a felony charge after police say he brought a gun to his high school.
The Dothan Eagle reports that the student was arrested at Slocomb High School on Thursday.
Slocomb Police Chief Don White said the student is a male ninth-grader who faces a charge of possession of a deadly weapon on school grounds. Police determined the teenager had brought a Glock 9mm handgun to the school.
White said the gun was found in his book bag and, to his knowledge, was never pulled out in school.
The police chief said an investigation showed that no individuals were targeted or threatened by the teen. White said “he just felt like he needed it for his protection.”
