Police: Knife or sword sought in Ala child’s death

GADSDEN — Gadsden police say a large knife or a sword may be linked to the death of a 20-month-old girl whose father is being held without bond.

Police say Stephon Lindsay was arrested Tuesday night shortly before authorities located the body of Maliyah Tashay Lindsay.

WBRC-TV (http://bit.ly/Wnjz4o) reports that police are looking for a knife or sword that may be linked to the child’s death.

Police spokesman Capt. Bobby Jackson calls the girl’s death “gruesome.”

The girl has been missing since March 5. Police say her mother told authorities the father said he was taking the girl to his sister’s house for a few days.

Investigators say the aunt later told the mother she hadn’t seen the girl of Lindsay for several weeks.
