SELMA, Ala. —
Police in Selma say an off-duty officer shot and killed two people and then turned the gun on himself.
Police tell WSFA-TV that Selma officer Dwight Moorer is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and her stepfather before taking his own life.
WAKA-TV reports that police found the bodies while responding to the shootings shortly after noon on Sunday.
Authorities say the stepfather's body was found on 10th Street. The bodies of Moorer and his ex-girlfriend were found in a white vehicle on Springdale Street.
Police say Moorer had worked for the Selma Police Department for nearly five years. He was a military veteran with two tours of service in Iraq.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigations is investigating the case at the request of Selma's police chief.
