  • AJGT Oaks at Sherwood Junior Classic

    Cullman junior golfers ages 11-18 are invited to compete in the AJGT Oaks at Sherwood Junior Classic in Baton Rouge, La., May 19-20. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard and hosted by the Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour. Registration includes two days of greens fees, tee gifts and trophies in four age divisions.

  • Cullman Golf Course Summer Jr. Program

    The Cullman Golf Course’s summer junior golf program is underway and will continue through Aug. 31. It is available for golfers ages 8-18.

  • Playing for Andrew Golf Tournament

    Tee time for the four-man scramble Playing for Andrew Golf Tournament will be 1:30 p.m. May 12 at the Cullman Golf Course. The cost is $400 per team or $100 per individual. Cullman Dodge Chrysler Jeep and Bill Smith GMC have donated vehicles to serve as hole-in-one prizes on the fifth and 10th holes. There will also be prizes awarded for straightest drive (Hole 4), longest drive (Hole 14) and closest to the pin (all Par 3s).

  • Alabama Express signups

    Alabama Express Youth Football and Cheerleading will have sign-ups for the upcoming fall season May 5 from 1-4 p.m. at Heritage Park near the softball fields. Children ages 5-12 are invited to participate in the weight-based league.

  • WSCC beginner’s golf classes

    The Wallace State Community Education Department is offering golf classes this spring at the Cullman Golf Course. Two sets of classes will be available and instructed by Ches Harris, a PGA professional and course director.

  • #PrayForAndrew weekend

    A #PrayForAndrew weekend is planned for the University of Alabama baseball team’s three-game series with Mississippi State University May 4-6 in Tuscaloosa. Games will be played May 4 at 6:30 p.m., May 5 at 2 p.m. and May 6 at 1 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.rolltide.com.

    The Cullman County Sports Hall of Fame inductee dinner and installation will be held at the Cullman Civic Center Saturday at 6:30 p.m. This year’s 12 inductees make up the hall of fame’s 13th class.

    West Point and Cullman have put together a women’s full-contact football game as a fundraiser for their respective youth football associations. The game will be at 7 p.m. on May 19 at West Point’s football stadium.
