Alabama Express sign-up

CULLMAN — Alabama Express Youth Football and Cheerleading will have its final sign-up for the upcoming fall season June 2 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Cullman Wellness and Aquatic Center. Children ages 5-12 are invited to participate in the weight-based league.

Teams are limited to 25 players to ensure maximum playing time. The cost to register is $125, which includes helmet, leg pads, two jerseys, game pants and shoulder pads for the football players and uniforms for the cheerleaders/majorettes. Athletes will get to keep all equipment except shoulder pads. The cost for returning players is $45, unless new equipment is needed.

    Wallace State women’s basketball will host a Hoops Plus Recruiting Showcase for the North Alabama area Sept. 22 at Tom Drake Coliseum from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

  • Merchants Bank Charity Classic

    The 19th annual Merchants Bank Charity Classic will be held Aug. 6 at TP Country Club. Lunch will be at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start kicking off play at 12:30 p.m. The entry fee will be $500 per team or $125 per player, which includes lunch, greens fees and dinner for each player and a guest. There will be prizes for the top-three golfers in the gross and net divisions, as well as those closest to the pin on each par 3.

  • Wallace State basketball camps

    Wallace State men’s basketball coach John Meeks and the state-champion Lions will host its third and final summer session of the Wallace State Basketball Academy today-Aug. 3.
    The camp is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 17 and will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at Wallace State’s Tom Drake Coliseum, as well as the Wellness Center.
