The Cullman County Auburn Club will host its annual fall picnic on Oct. 17 at the Cullman Civic Center. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. with refreshments, and the program will start at 6 p.m. The guest speaker for the event will be Stephen Malkoff, an artist who has been nicknamed the “Tree Man” by Southern Living for his pencil renderings of famous trees. American Forest named him the official artist for the national register of historic trees. An Auburn graduate, Malkoff studied architecture and played football under legendary coach Pat Dye. He was a member of the 1988 SEC Championship team.
The fall picnic is also combined with the club’s annual food drive. Club Members and guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Harbor House for Abused Women and Children.
