HOLLY POND — Cullman’s varsity boys overcame a rough start on Friday night, defeating J.B. Pennington 57-41 to take home the team title following a perfect performance at the 61st annual Holly Pond Thanksgiving Tournament.

Dylan Finch and Drew Morton both collected 15 points for the Bearcats (5-3) in the victory, while Zane Manley (eight), Trey Tucker (six) and JD Parrish (six) contributed as well. 

The Black and Gold — who trailed 14-5 after the first quarter — also defeated Good Hope and Holly Pond earlier this week to finish 3-0 in the tournament.

% Holly Pond 68, Good Hope 62: The Broncos erased a 21-10 first-quarter deficit to down the Raiders and improve to 3-2 this season.

Griffin Morris (20 points) and McKinley Garrett (16) were the top scorers for Holly Pond.

Good Hope was led by Cole Maddox (21 points), Kallen Sharpton (13) and Isaac McDonald (12) in the loss. The Raiders are now 2-2 this season. 


 

Hanceville Thanksgiving Tournament

% Hanceville 45, Corner 42 (OT): The Bulldogs outlasted the Yellow Jackets in overtime to grab the team crown at the 35th annual Hanceville Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday.

Brendan Flanigan (16 points) and RJ Evans (10 points and nine rebounds) aided the Purple and Gold to the victory, which improved the team’s record to 3-2 this season.

Friday’s scheduled game between Cold Springs and Jefferson Christian was cancelled.


 Jacksonville Thanksgiving Tournament

% Jacksonville 47, Holly Pond 38: Maddie Heatherly (10 points), Lili Harris (nine), Presley Marks (six) and Elizabeth Miller (six) paved the way for the Lady Broncos in Friday’s loss.

Holly Pond is now 1-3 this season.
