Not only did Holly Pond High standout Taylor Baker play in his second Lions East-West All-Star Classic baseball game Saturday night, but he also got to be on the winning team.

One night after beating the Birmingham Metro All-Stars 13-3, the North Alabama All-Stars edged the Central Alabama All-Stars 6-3.

Baker played five innings in left field, flying out in his only at bat.

Even though the junior was hitless Saturday, he still got the opportunity to shine Friday night. Pitching in his first ever East-West All-Star game, Baker pitched three shutout innings against the Birmingham Metro team. He struck out three batters and didn’t allow a hit.

Baker is one of several talented juniors on a Holly Pond team that advanced to the second round of the Class 3A playoffs.
