Ash Wednesday celebrated at St. Bernard in Cullman

CULLMAN — On Ash Wednesday, the St. Bernard school and monastic communities gathered in the Abbey Church to initiate the beginning of the Lenten season. Abbot Cletus Meagher, OSB, was the main celebrant and delivered the homily. He emphasized that these next 40 days were a time of preparation for the great feast of Easter and encouraged everyone present to use this time well. As part of the ceremony, those who came forward after the homily received ashes placed on their forehead as a reminder of this penitential season.
