Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry

CULLMAN — Another record has been broken by local contributors of gift filled shoeboxes to the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry Project. The OCC Collection Center for Cullman County at Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church collected 6,352 shoeboxes, breaking the previous record of 5,335 shoeboxes collected last year.

David Ozment, Regional Center Coordinator, explained that more churches, organizations and individuals in Cullman County responded to this effective, simple, Samaritan’s Purse mission project with gifts and the gospel message for deserving children around the world.

Children receiving shoeboxes are encouraged to participate in a 12-week course taught by local volunteers to learn about God and Jesus Christ. Millions taking this course have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Samaritan’s Purse has distributed over 100 million shoeboxes the past 20 years.

“The success of this Shoebox Ministry once again verifies the God-inspired generosity of people in Cullman County. This is truly a very caring and giving community,” said Ozment.
