— The Gaither Vocal Band’s tenor Wes Hampton will be putting on a free concert at St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church on August 18 beginning at 5 p.m.

St. John’s office administrator Karen Hassell said it will be a great night of music. The event is free to the public, but a love offering will be taken.

“We are just so excited to host him here, and we’d love to have everyone in the community to come and support him,” Hassell said. “I attended one of his concerts in Birmingham last week and he did a great job.”

Hassell said when she thinks gospel music, the Gaithers come to mind.

“The Gaither Band speak for themselves,” Hassell said. “You picture guys, sitting around a piano that are known for their powerful voices, life-altering messages and wonderful harmony.”

Since 2009, the Gaither Vocal Band is composed of members: Bill Gaither, Mark Lowry, David Phelps, Michael English, and Wes Hampton.

The concert will take place at St. John’s Christ Hall located on 512 2nd Avenue southeast in Cullman.
