Dee Lawrence had a very tough childhood. Her mother died when she was 19 months old, and her father only lived until she was 8.
Losing both her parents at such a young age gave her an extra ability to care for other people. She makes sure that anyone who crosses her path is taken care of.
She works two full-time jobs, one at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center and the other at Jack’s Restaurant in Holly Pond. She works those extremely long hours not just to make ends meet for herself, but also to help the people around her.
She is very active in Pleasant View Baptist Church just east of Holly Pond. People there say if they need something done, put this person in charge. They say her faith in God is awesome.
She loves to quilt and gives most of her quilts away to other people. She prepares meals for people who are sick, and she visits hospice patients. This Unsung Hero has a garden big enough for the whole community, and she doesn’t hesitate to share it with others.
