Love is best shown when someone gives of their time and energy. Anyone who helps others when they are sick, injured or moving into a new home is a special person.
Someone who does all this when she is 75 and caring for her own sick husband is a true hero.
When her granddaughter was moving to Cullman from North Carolina, Billie Sue Persall brought her a casserole several times. She also stayed all day to paint walls.
When her grandson’s wife broke her ankle, she showed up with food and stayed to take care of the young children.
She calls to check up on members of her church who are sick or discouraged, giving them food and encouragement.
This person gives of herself constantly and is a hero to many people in this community.
And that’s why we’re naming Billie Sue Persall — better known as “Granny” Sue — an Unsung Hero for 2008.
