UNSUNG HERO: Cathy Pilgrim

The person who nominated Cathy Pilgrim as an Unsung Hero described her as “one of the most unselfish, caring and generous people I know.”

She’s spent the past eight years working for a non-profit organization that helps people get a college education.

She is involved in every event in her church, and also contributes huge amounts of time to help her elderly neighbors and friends.

Pilgrim has even offered to mow a neighbor’s yard because the neighbor’s husband was in the military and stationed in Iraq, and she had four children to tend to.

This Unsung Hero has bought mattress cushions and pads to help her elderly neighbors be more comfortable. She makes a habit of visiting the elderly in nursing homes, often assisting the families with cell phones and other needed items. When she knows of a needy family in the area, she brings them gifts. She has never turned down the opportunity to help other people.

She has said if she had a million dollars, she would give it away to people who need it more than she does.
