LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Hasenbein won't seek District 11 seat

— Nothing would honor or humble me more than to have the opportunity to serve the good citizens of House District 11 in our state legislature. It is a district of good, honest salt-of-the-earth people who I think believe in the same beliefs as me and the Democratic Party of Alabama. A belief in the equality of people, the power of education, the dignity of work, and our responsibility to each other. However, at this time I will not be a democratic candidate for the position. My two biggest obligations are to fulfill my commitment of serving the remainder of my term (two years) on the Cullman County School Board. I serve with a wonderful group of caring people and it is an exciting time for our system and its children. I also feel deeply obligated to my work as a classroom teacher at St. Bernard Preparatory School and would not take away time from such a wonderful place to commit the time and effort necessary to run a successful campaign. It would not be fair to both of my present commitments.
