GUEST COLUMN: Obama is all flash, no substance

Obama may be all the rage in the northeast and on the left coast, but in flyover country, he looks like John Kerry II, or Mr. Flip Flop. He just can't seem to take a consistent position, either on his personal life, or on policy issues.

First he was for his pastor of 20 years and then he disowned him. Then he was just a casual friend of William Ayres, famous for bombing the Pentagon. Then Obama admitted he started his Senate campaign in his house and has, for years, served on a board with him. First he declined to wear a flag lapel pin, but, under pressure, has now taken to wearing one (sometimes).

First he was going to sit down and talk with Iran's Holocost-denying leader, without pre-conditions, but now says there will have to be conditions. First Obama railed against NAFTA, saying he would renegotiate it, but now says he thinks it is probably ok.

First he agreed with John McCain and promised to accept federal matching funds in the spirit of campaign reform (remember he is the reforming change agent), but now, he has declined in favor of big money donations. First he was for town hall meetings with his opponent, but has now reversed himself on that as well.

Then there have been the gaffes. First, he criticizes white folks for thinking a certain way and even singles out his own grandmother as an example. Then his wife, Michelle, opines that this is the first time she has been proud of her country. Then Michelle speaks out and says this country is just mean. Then Obama says we poor misquided folks in flyover country are just clinging to our God and our guns and can't tolerate anyone that doesn't think like us.

Just recently, he opined that Sen. McCain's campaign can't run on foreign policy or the economy and predicted they would attack him on race. Now, if more Americans were paying attention at this point, this guy would already be toast for saying and doing all these dumb things.

The mainstream media are giving him a pass, which is predictable and his opponent seems to be bending over backwards to be decent, when these softballs should have been hit over the centerfield fence.

Add to all this the fact that Obama has zero experience in anything other than southside Chicago ward politics, has raised his kids in a church that preaches hate (showing poor judgement which we worry about in a president) and has shown himself to be so clearly over his head when trying to discuss national issues, it is truly scary that he is even running for high office, much less the highest one.

Endearing him further to us flyover folks is this church going Christian, who strongly supports both abortion, as well as partial birth abortion and recently hailed the California Court ruling in favor of gay marriage as a good thing.

After a mere two years in the U.S. Senate, Obama is rated the most liberal of all 100 senators, meaning he has been the least bi-partisan, least willing to compromise guy in the Senate. So much for bringing us all together and bringing change to a broken and divided system.

As they say in Texas, this guy is all hat and no cattle. Obama is just another smooth talking, Harvard educated, empty suit, who has, so far, proved that he is not different, he does not have common sense and that he lacks judgement in both his personal life and in affairs of state.
