It is National Volunteer Week — a time to recognize volunteers and celebrate the spirit of volunteerism.
Cullman volunteers are willing to work hard, and will tell you that they are well-paid. They state that the reward for their work is not money, but in the satisfaction of helping others while actively involved in their community and the joy of the friendships which are developed while working as a team.
The theme of National Volunteer Week is to assist your community, and that is what Cullman Red Cross volunteers do. Without Cullman volunteers, “Your American Red Cross” could not complete its mission “to provide relief to victims of disaster, to include house fires and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.”
At “Your American Red Cross” more than 80 volunteers help people during straight line wind damage, tornados, and house fires. They support blood drives by giving blood or working at registration. They teach lifesaving skills and assist in serving members of the military and their families.
“Your American Red Cross” welcome volunteers of all ages and skills. Right now we especially need people who would be interested in training to work as a health and safety instructor. To volunteer, contact Kenneth Kilgo, Executive Director or Nancy Lee, Health & Safety Director or Carlene Yearwood and Mandy Solano Administrative Assistants 734-0921 or 734-0715.
