CULLMAN — William Curtis Goodwin

Funeral services for William Curtis Goodwin, 92, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Vinemont with interment in Vinemont Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Goodwin was born on June 26, 1920, to William Sedon Goodwin and Ruby Brown Goodwin. A decorated veteran of World War II, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre receiving a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars.

After riding in horse-drawn wagons as a child, Mr. Goodwin worked on elements of the Apollo rocket mission as a 35-year employee of Hayes International Aircraft in Birmingham. He retired in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years, Frances Love Goodwin; his sister, Myra Elizabeth Goodwin; his brothers, Doyle Clark Goodwin, John Wallace Goodwin, Paul Goodwin, and infant twins.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth L. (Sylvia) Goodwin of Fairhope, Howard C. (Cynthia) Goodwin of Jacksonville, Fla., Martha Goodwin Porter of Birmingham, and Melba Goodwin (Richard) Wiegand of Cullman; a brother, Robert L. Goodwin of Decatur; grandchildren, Sondra (Tim) Ramsden of Andalusia, Amy (Scott) Browning of Mobile. David (Janet) Goodwin of Pelham, Anne (Guy III) Wilson of Harrisburg, Miss., Stephanie (Keith) Cooper of Hoover, and Nathan (Leah) Wiegand of San José, Calif.; and great-grandchildren, Ava Ramsden, Matthew, Macy and Harrison Browning, Katherine Goodwin, Kristen and Joshua Wilson and Presley Cooper.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or the American Parkinson's Association.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.
