Arno Ray Powell
Arno Ray Powell of Baileyton died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Hanceville Nursing Home at the age of 85. He was born Sept. 24, 1926, to Grady and Jessie Powell in Marshall County. He served his country in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Lystra Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bruce Powell; a daughter, Sandy Cappadocia; and brothers, Buford Powell, Beamon Powell and Leamon Powell.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Syble Davis Powell; a daughter, Anita (Gary) Allbritten of Baileyton; a son, Ted (Cendy) Powell of Falkville; grandchildren, Shane (Caron) Cappadocia of Troy, N.Y., Amy (Shane) Linton of Baileyton, Laurie (Daniel) Jones of Baileyton, Justin Powell and Ali Powell of Falkville; and great-grandchildren, Sydney Linton, Kaytlin Ford, Shawn Linton, Reagan and Colton Jones.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local Alzheimers group.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Lystra Baptist Church in Baileyton.
Wilson Bros. Funeral Service and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
