Jimmie Thomas ‘JT’ Parker

Jimmie Thomas ”JT” Parker, 80, passed away at home in West Point surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.

Jimmie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie Ruth (Morris) Parker; son, Jonathan Parker, son and daughter-in-law, Clarkston and Cari Parker; brother, Howard (MH) Parker; sister-in-law, Delores Parker; and a large, loving extended family.

He was preceded in death by parents, Miles Arthur Parker and Minnie Williams Parker; and siblings Verlie, Teenie, Arvil, Wesley, infant boy, Francis Lee, Pauline and Junior.

After serving as a medic in the U.S. Army, Jimmie returned to Cullman where he drove bread, ice cream and milk routes throughout the county. Following a brief period at Wolverine Tube in Decatur, Jimmie retired in 1994 with 25 years from Americold Compressor Corporation. Jimmie and Bonnie operated a commercial poultry farm for 35 years,

Jimmie loved anything associated with The University of Alabama (though he quickly adopted Auburn when Cari joined his family in 1990) but had a special passion for church and particularly loved leading the Congregational Choir at Addison Church of God.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday, November 16 at Cullman-Heritage Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 17 at Addison Church of God. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17 at Addison Church of God at 2 p.m. Jimmie will be laid to rest at Jones Chapel Cemetery following the service.
