Mary Esther, FL —
Frances Barck Barrow
Frances Barck Barrow won her battle against severe dementia Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013. Frances was born May 13, 1921, in Bullock County, Ala., to Doc Alford and Johnnie Lucille Odom Barck. In 1942, she married Lewey Barrow for time. They later were sealed together at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mesa, Ariz., temple for time and all eternity.
Frances was loved by all that met her and loved by her family and friends. She was also known and loved for her many years as a school bus driver. She touched the lives of many through her countless years driving for Fairview School, which also included vocational school routes and band trips. She always treated her riders as her own kids and did all she could for them. Although her kindness was usually quiet deeds, her most notable antics were making a coon skin cap for a young man and buying a sewing machine for a young lady.
In 1988, Lewey and Frances retired and moved to Mary Esther, Fla. Lewey passed away in 1997, and her health began to fail. In 2004, she was diagnosed with several small strokes and the beginning of the dementia which she battled until her passing.
Frances is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Davis (Ralph) Freese of Navarre, Fla., Mary Bond of Mesa, Ariz., and Fran (Michael) Rodriguez of Trussville, Ala.; brothers, James (Penny) Barck of Cullman, Gene (Pat) Barck of Cullman and John (Jannie) Barck of Ashland, Mo.; sister, Linda Teichmiller of Cullman and Wildred Fergus of Daily City, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewey Barrow; sons-in-law, H. Kenneth Bond and Doug Davis; and brothers-in-law, Richard Teichmiller and Clarence Fergus.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1751 Sea Lark Landing, Navarre, Fla. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.
