Patsy Hall Hathcox
Patsy Hall Hathcox, 75, of Cullman, formerly of Gardendale, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013. She was baptized at Hopewell Baptist Church. As a graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School she went on to work for the federal government and retired after 25 years of service. During that time she held many interesting positions including one in which she traveled the state to administer the Civil Service exam. Eventually she became a benefits authorizer for the Social Security Administration in Birmingham. She then retired to Smith Lake with her husband of 58 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hortense and John D. Hall; two brothers, Donald Hall and infant brother, Norman; and three sisters, Barbara Walden, Mary Ruth Story and Dorothy Sims.
She is survived by her husband, James (Jimmy) Hathcox; two children, Mickey Hathcox (wife-Trish) and Pam Thomas (husband-Allen); grandchildren, Nicole Raughton (Donny), Garrett Hathcox (Lara), Natalie Williams (Zac) and Alaina Thomas; seven great-grandchildren; her brother Edward Hall; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Many family friends think of her as their second mother. Most have children who call her Grandmother Patsy and she considered them all family as well.
Visitation will be at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Ridout’s on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. with a short graveside service to follow.
