CULLMAN — Ila Mae Stallings Jones

Funeral services for Ila Mae Stallings Jones, 88, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at the Spring Hill Baptist Church, the Rev. Frank Wood and Ken Dees officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. She will lie-in-state at the church for one hour prior to services.

Mrs. Jones was born March 20, 1925, in Baxter, Tenn., to Yancy and Sarah Johnson Stallings. She died Thursday, Sept. 19, at Cullman Long Term Care, the last of her 12 siblings. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, and had a Sunday School attendance record of 57 years, prior to entering the nursing home in 2009. Ila was also well known for her work at Dairy Queen as the dining room attendant from 1994 until 2009.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 32 years, Alvin Verlie Jones.

Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda (Larry) James; a son, Harold Watson (Myra) Jones; five grandchildren, Tina (Tony) Jones, Teresa (Dwayne) Wooten, Michelle (Matt) Daily, Ryan Reynolds and Cody Lee James; six great-grandchildren, Mikayla Ryan, Camryn Ryan, Aaiden Jones, Isabella Jones, Tyler Kemp and Sadie Wooten; a great-great-grandchild, Asher Ryan; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Omega Hospice.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.

    Susan Werner died Monday, July 21, 2014, as a result of an apparent fall at her home in Gainesville, Florida. Susan grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and, after graduation from FSU, spent many years in Cullman, where she taught elementary school and received a master’s degree from UAB. While in Cullman, she married Robert Werner and helped run a family retail business.
