Funeral services for Roy Buford Scott, 87, of Murphy, N.C., will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Antioch Baptist Church, Bros. Sam Hollis and Samuel Tucker officiating, with interment in the church cemetery.
Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Scott passed away Sunday, March 24, in North Carolina. He was born July 30, 1925, to William Howard and Ada Effie Goodwin Scott. Mr. Scott worked for 20 years, alongside his two brothers, in Atlanta, Ga., in a printing shop before moving to Cullman. He retired as a printer with The Cullman Times. He also served honorably in the Navy for four years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Fullilove Scott; a daughter, Debra Ann Scott McGukin; five brothers, Charles E. Scott, Bill Scott, Carl G. Scott, all of Decatur, Ga., Herbert “Buddy” Scott of Hueytown and Fred Scott of Deland, Fla.; two sisters, Helen Scott Horn of Talladega and Ludie Mae Scott Bradshaw of Birmingham; and two half-brothers, Irvin Scott of Jackson, Fla., and Earle Scott of Greenville, S.C.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Scott and friend, Belinda Godwin; a sister, Elizabeth Scott Porter of Birmingham; a son-in-law, Rick McGukin; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Fullilove, Michael Fullilove, Dusty Fullilove, Dylan Fullilove, Andy Fullilove, Randy Holcomb, Austin Fullilove, Nathan Harris and Randall Schaefers.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
