James ‘Jim’ Edward Floyd Jr.

CULLMAN — James ‘Jim’ Edward Floyd Jr.

Funeral services for James “Jim” Edward Floyd Jr., 75, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Joe Webb officiating, with interment in Good Hope Baptist Cemetery.

Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Floyd passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, at his residence. He was born February 5, 1938, to James Edward Sr. and Mandy Virginia Brown Floyd. “Jim” led an extraordinary life where he tried to make a difference in the world. He felt led to preach the Gospel at age 12, and people came from everywhere to hear “Little Jimmy Floyd” preach. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1962. He started a steel fabrication business that began in his yard and grew into a multi-city corporation. He was a pilot, played music on his guitar, and loved to sing. Jim was "politically incorrect" and believed in a code of honor established for Sons of the South by General Robert E. Lee.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sylvia Matthews Floyd (affectionately known as "Saint Sylvia"); his son, James Anthony Floyd and his wife, Elizabeth, and their children, Luna and Nicholas; and his daughter, Ericka Lynne Webb and her husband, Raymond Webb, and their daughter, Halle Nicole.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mitch Baker, Jim Barnes, Tony Goodwin, Ronnie Hiebert, Mark Lucas and Derek Underwood, with Dwight Self as an honorary pallbearer.
