CULLMAN — Orville G. Quattlebaum

Orville G. Quattlebaum of Cullman went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at his home with his wife of 72 years, Emma Jeanette Quattlebaum, and close family members by his side.

He was born Sept. 9, 1922, to Samuel and Ella Mae Quattlebaum in Jefferson County.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and three sisters. 

He is survived by his wife, Emma Jeanette; a brother, Ulen (Jackie) Quattlebaum; two sons, Gary (Reba) Quattlebaum and Kinney (Pam) Quattlebaum; three grandchildren, Stacy (Jeff) Emanuel, Jeremy (Jennifer) Quattlebaum and Kelly Quattlebaum; three step-grandchildren, Cheri (Darrin) Jones, Clark (Niki) Zimomeister and Jason (Jennifer) Zinomeister; nine great-grandchildren, Jackson and Max Emanuel, Gavin, Colby, Gabe, Kinsley Holmes, Sam, Ethan, Lincoln Quattlebaum; five stepgreat-grandchildrehn, Chynna Jones, Noah and Chloe Zimomeister, Garrett and Ava Zimomeister; and 13 nephews and 10 nieces.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre as an E5. Afterwards he went to work at Birmingham Transit driving a city bus for 42 years. After retiring from the bus company, he worked at Cullman Wal-Mart in the garden department for almost 20 years,  finally retiring at age 85.

Orville loved working in his garden and yard and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his sons and grandchildren. He was a kind and caring man who loved his family very much and will be missed greatly.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Stanley Kilgore officiating, with burial in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mr. Quattlebaum’s nephews.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
