Mrs. Hinds was preceded in death by the loves of her life, Luther; and their beloved daughter, Charlotte Bishop Hinds. Gertrude and Luther opened and ran successfully The Calico Shop, an upscale fabric store in Cullman that they operated for 26 years. Mrs. Hinds loved the First United Methodist Church and was a great supporter of it and all activities held there. Her flowers were a joy to everyone, especially her, for she loved all things beautiful. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Robert and Lula South; two brothers; and five sisters.

Gertrude is survived by one sister, Frances Goodwin.

Mrs. Hinds also had another love in her life. One very spoiled Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, named Hudson, he was a great companion to her for five years.

She had a wonderful caregiver, Margaret Weathers, whom she loved. “Miss Gertrude” will be missed by many people.

It is requested that in lieu of flowers, any memorial be made to the Charlotte Bishop Hinds Memorial at First United Methodist Church at 320 3rd Street, S.E. Cullman, AL 35055.
