CULLMAN — Lowell ‘Gene’ Christie

Memorial services for Lowell Gene Christie, 62, of Vinemont will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Jimmy Mattox officiating.

Mr. Christie passed away Sunday, June 1. He was born September 15, 1951, in Greensburg, Indiana, to (the late) John Hubert and Nettie Christie. He was a truck driver with Watkins Transportation and a veteran who served our country in the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Christie; children, Stuart Boatright, Rachel Manlief, Lisa Boatright, Mark (Kristin) Boatright, Jon (Charity) Christie, Glenn (Donna) Boatright and Will (Tara) Clayton; former daughter-in-law, Wendy Boatright; 22 grandchildren, Bailey Boatright, Garrett Boatright, Dillion Steinert, Johnathan Bishop, David Bishop, Jalana Clarkson, Nicole Christie, Jonna Christie, Cody Clarkson, Corey Clarkson, Nalia Christie, Tyler Boatright, Levi Boatright, Sawyer Jordan, Silas Jordan, Madelin Boatright, Carter James Boatright, Cole Clayton, Maddie Clayton, Allie Clayton, Hunter Clayton and Hannah Manlief; and one great-grandchild, Emma Boatright.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.

    Susan Werner died Monday, July 21, 2014, as a result of an apparent fall at her home in Gainesville, Florida. Susan grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and, after graduation from FSU, spent many years in Cullman, where she taught elementary school and received a master’s degree from UAB. While in Cullman, she married Robert Werner and helped run a family retail business.
