BIRMINGHAM — Burl Samuel Wilson

Burl Samuel Wilson, 60, of Birmingham, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013. He was a very active member of Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was an enthusiastic member of the Praise Team and Chancel Choir. Burl Wilson was a kind, jovial and exuberant man that made everyone feel welcomed to the church. He loved his family, friends and Auburn football. He was a lover of music and vacations that ended in sunsets at the beach. Burl worked in the Advertising Department at The Cullman Times for many years and was working at a sister paper, The St. Clair News in Aegis at the time of his passing.

Burl was preceded in death by his father, Samuel E. Wilson; sister, Betty Wilson; and brother, Bob Wilson.

Survivors include his wife, Jolene Morgan Wilson; daughter, Mary Morgan Wilson; mother, Evelyn C. Wilson; sister, Bea Cotelis (Andy); sister-in-law, June Wilson; and numerous other family members and close friends.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church, followed by the service at 2 p.m. with Reverend Michael Carver officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church in the name of the Burl Wilson Memorial Fund.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.
