Mr. Buckelew passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born April 12, 1939, in Cullman County to J.B. Douglas and Imogene King Buckelew. Mr. Buckelew married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Brown, in June 1958. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957-1962 and was always a Marine at heart. A special flag will be folded and presented by his Marine friends, Richard Becker and Herman Stringer. He was a member of the IBEW Local 1925 and spent his life as an electrician by trade. He served as president of the Morgan County Cattlemen’s Association in 2010 and 2011 and was named Cattlewomen’s Father of the Year in 2009. An honor that was most deserved. Mr. Buckelew served as a deacon of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he was a faithful servant of the Lord and the community of Battleground. He loved life and his family and was most proud of his two grandsons, Sam and Charles. His love for the Lord was evident in his daily walk. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Cancer Center of Huntsville and Dr. Ali Haschem.
