HANCEVILLE — Jerry Leon Nuss

Funeral services for Jerry Leon Nuss, 72, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Center Hill Baptist Church, Johnny Crumpton and Hobert Thomas officiating, with interment in the church cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nuss passed away at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, May 19, at his son’s home. He was born in Cullman Oct. 1, 1940, to Oscar and Lillian Nuss. He graduated from Hanceville High School in 1958. He was a carpenter for many years and also worked with ALFA Insurance, where he retired after 30 years. He was a hard working, well respected man who loved life and was loved by many. He loved traveling and was blessed to have seen all 50 states and some foreign countries. He loved his church and loved singing in the choir. He loved his family and friends dearly and he will be missed greatly!

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Iris Pritchett; brothers, Melvin Nuss and Gene Nuss and grandson, Justin Leon Nuss.

He is survived by two sons, Greg (Sheila) Nuss and Jeff (Ronda) Nuss; daughter, Bridget Johnson; stepdaughter, Leah Nuss; son-in-law, Jamie Johnson; grandchildren, Jennifer Nuss, Cody (Kelsey) Nuss, Katie Nuss (Tyler) Rutledge, Kayla Nuss, Cory (Melissa) Johnson, Tiffany Johnson, Micah and Gabriel; a great grandchild due in November; brother, Wayne (Sandy) Nuss; sisters, Dorothy Hickey and Brenda Wix, sister-in-law, Shirley Nuss and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.
