CULLMAN — Funeral services for Chester W. Freeman, 90, will be held Monday, February 11, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. Viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. Internment will be in the Cullman City Cemetery immediately following the service.

Chester Freeman was born June 3, 1922 in the Brushy Pond community of Cullman County to Willis Jesse Freeman and Sarah Ethel Ponder Freeman. He came from a large family of 11 children and grew up attending the Cold Springs school system. He married Hilda Jean Wood and they had two children, Carolyn and Phil.

Chester was a veteran of World War II and came home to serve his country again by service to his community in many ways. He was also very active in his church, St. Andrew's United Methodist.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda Freeman, sister Glenda (Grady) Kilgo, son Dr. Phil (Patti) Freeman, daughter Carolyn (Dr. Bill) Peinhardt, grandchildren Clint (Anne) Peinhardt, Lanie (Jeb) Williamson, Rachel (Wesley) Dawsey, Amy Williams, Meredith (Jeff) Middlebrooks, and honorary grandson Allan (Stella) Chiunda. His great-grandchildren are Ava and Lily Peinhardt, Drew and Lucy Williamson, May, Cy and Miles Dawsey, Clay and Maggie Williams, and Eliza and Thomas Middlebrooks; honorary great-grandchildren, Kuda and Farai Chiunda.

Visitation will be held at the Cullman Wellness and Aquatic Center at the Chester Freeman Park on Sunday, 5:00-8:00 p.m.
